The Primorsko-notranjska region is rich in diverse material, spiritual and social heritage, which is not recognised and used enough as an opportunity to contribute added value to the economy, tourism and to social life in general.

It follows from the above that it is essential to evaluate the position of the cultural heritage of the Primorsko-notranjska region, enable its protection and include it in modern life. We will attempt with individual projects to introduce a positive attitude towards preserving the cultural heritage, which will contribute to a more active role of the public in the processes of the preservation of the cultural heritage and the renovation of cultural heritage monuments. Cultural heritage is a factor which can undoubtedly contribute to the creation of new employment, especially in relation to tourism.

In the Primorsko-notranjska region we strive to achieve the following objectives related to cultural heritage:

• comprehensive maintenance and development of the cultural heritage and its connection to modern life and creation;
• establishment of the cultural heritage as the bearer of identity and quality of life at the local, regional and national level;
• cultural education and development of public awareness of the importance and values of the cultural heritage;
• development of new public-private partnership forms of investment in the area of cultural heritage, with which we are trying to achieve the sustainable preservation of heritage through use.
