The role of the energy communities and achieving the energy transition in the European Union has already been recognized through the policy and legislative framework, however, the role of the energy communities and energy transition in tackling energy poverty is still not recognized as one of the possible solutions. Outside the EU the situation is not better, and many countries still do not have the topic of the energy policy or energy communities implemented in policy or legislative framework.

The ReRURAL project contributes to a better understanding of the topic of energy poverty and how energy transition through energy communities can tackle this phenomenon by building capacity.

On the national level, the ReRURAL project supports the National Energy and Climate Plan to integrate measures and monitoring methods and solutions to tackle energy poverty. Also, the project supports public authorities, especially cities, and municipalities, to integrate these methods and approaches into their own Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans.
